The verdict
If you cook rice every day, want brown rice or congee, or need a delay timer, get the Zojirushi NS-ZCC10. If you only cook white rice and want the simplest machine on a tighter budget, get the Tiger JAZ-A10U. Both are US 120V models and will not work on China's 220V power without a transformer.

Who should buy which
Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 Neuro Fuzzy Rice Cooker (5.5 cups)
High-end
- Best for
- Families who cook rice every day, want brown rice, mixed grains or congee, or want rice ready when they wake up.
- Why we like it
- Fuzzy logic adjusts heat and timing to the rice and water in the pot, and white rice has softer and harder settings. Brown rice, porridge and rinse-free rice each get their own menu, and the timer stores two preset times, for example one for breakfast and one for dinner.
- Keep in mind
- It costs noticeably more than a one-switch cooker. Microcomputer cookers soak, heat and steam in stages, so a pot usually takes longer than a one-switch model; use quick cook when you are in a hurry. It is deeper than the Tiger, so measure a small counter first.
Tiger JAZ-A10U Rice Cooker (5.5 cups)
Entry level
- Best for
- People who mostly cook white rice and want to press one switch, such as students, a small household that just moved, or parents.
- Why we like it
- One switch means almost nothing to learn. It drops to keep warm on its own and holds rice warm for up to 12 hours. It is smaller and lighter (5.5 lb), and the fluorine-coated nonstick pan is easy to wash.
- Keep in mind
- Tiger does not list brown rice, porridge or a delay timer for this model, so anyone who wants mixed grains or timed cooking will find it limited. A conventional heating plate cannot fine-tune like fuzzy logic, so texture depends more on how much water you add.
The real difference: how they heat
The Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 is a microcomputer rice cooker. A chip watches the temperature and runs soaking, heating and steaming in stages, with a different program for each kind of rice. That is why it can handle brown rice and congee, which need different heat.
The Tiger JAZ-A10U is a classic one-switch cooker. The heating plate boils off the water and then flips to keep warm. It is simple and hard to break, but the texture depends mostly on how much water you put in.
Which one fits how you cook
- You cook rice every day and care about texture: Zojirushi. White rice can be set softer or harder, and long keep-warm and reheat work better.
- You want brown rice, mixed grains or congee: Zojirushi, which has menus for each.
- You want rice ready when you wake up: Zojirushi, which has a delay timer.
- You only cook white rice and want it simple: Tiger. Press the switch; no manual needed.
- A dorm or a tiny kitchen: Tiger. It is smaller and lighter.
- A gift for parents living in China: neither works there as-is; see the FAQ below.

FAQ
Is Zojirushi or Tiger better for an Asian household?
It depends on what you cook and how often. Families who cook rice daily and make brown rice or congee are better off with the Zojirushi NS-ZCC10. If you only cook white rice and want something simple and cheaper, the Tiger JAZ-A10U is enough.
Can I take the Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 or Tiger JAZ-A10U to China?
Not directly. Both are US 120V models and China uses 220V. You would need a step-down transformer rated for the power, or buy the 220V version sold in China.
How many people does a 5.5-cup rice cooker feed?
The 5.5 cups are uncooked rice, measured with the cooker's own cup (about 180 ml). That covers a meal for 1 to 4 people. If you often host or have a big family, look at the 10-cup versions.
Can the Tiger JAZ-A10U cook brown rice or congee?
Tiger only lists white rice and automatic keep warm for the JAZ-A10U, with no dedicated brown rice or porridge menu. If you make those often, the Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 has menus for both.
Will the Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 and Tiger JAZ-A10U be on sale for Black Friday?
Prices change daily, and faster during Black Friday week. The buttons above show today's price on Amazon.
