Beats Powerbeats Fit Review: Do These Workout Earbuds Stay In, and Do They Work on Android? (2026)

The Beats Powerbeats Fit is the next Beats Fit Pro, with a softer wingtip, a smaller case and an extra XS ear tip. Great for running, the gym and all-day commuting; for heart rate or longer battery, look at the Powerbeats Pro 2. Android works with a few features missing.

The short answer

If you want earbuds that stay put while you run, jump or lift, and still cancel noise on your commute, the Beats Powerbeats Fit is a strong pick. The wingtip tucks into your ear instead of hooking behind it, so it does not fight with glasses or a face mask, and the case fits in a pants pocket. It does not track heart rate and gets about 6 hours per charge with noise cancelling on. If you want heart rate from your earbuds or longer listening, get the pricier Powerbeats Pro 2. iPhone users get every feature; Android works too, minus Apple extras like automatic switching and hands-free Siri.

Beats Powerbeats Fit Wireless Noise-Cancelling Workout Earbuds (Jet Black, with 1.5 m USB-C cable)

Mid-range

Best for
Runners, gym-goers, dance-workout fans and badminton players who are tired of earbuds falling out; commuters who want noise cancelling on the train and one pair for after-work workouts; people with smaller ears who cannot keep regular AirPods in; a gift for an active partner or a college student.
Why we like it
The wingtip is about 20% more flexible than on the Beats Fit Pro and tucks into the fold of your ear, so it stays put while you run and jump without pressing on your glasses the way an earhook can. There is a new XS ear tip, for four sizes in total, and the Beats app has a fit test that tells you which size seals best. Noise cancelling quiets the treadmill, while Transparency lets you hear traffic on an outdoor run. The case is 17% smaller than the Beats Fit Pro case and slips into a pocket or running belt. On iPhone you get one-tap pairing, automatic switching between iPhone, iPad and Mac, hands-free Siri and Find My; Android gets one-touch pairing, custom controls, battery status and Locate My Beats. The earbuds and case are rated IPX4 for sweat and light rain, and a 5-minute charge gives about an hour of playback.
Keep in mind
No heart rate sensor, so you need a watch or the Powerbeats Pro 2 for that. It still uses the older H1 chip, and a review site rates the noise cancelling as decent but not top tier, behind earbuds like the AirPods Pro. With ANC on you get about 6 hours per charge, which covers a marathon but not a long flight without a top-up in the case. IPX4 means sweat and splashes only, so no swimming or showers, and do not charge it while wet. The manufacturer does not mention wireless charging, so plan to charge with USB-C.

Earbuds keep falling out during workouts? Start with how they stay in

Workout earbuds stay in one of three ways. Plain in-ear buds (like the AirPods Pro), wingtips (like the Beats Powerbeats Fit), or earhooks (like the Powerbeats Pro 2).

  • Plain in-ear: the lightest, but they loosen once you sweat and bounce, especially in smaller ears.
  • Wingtip: a soft fin next to the ear tip tucks into the fold of your ear. Much more secure than plain in-ear, with nothing pressing behind the ear.
  • Earhook: a hook behind the ear. The most secure, but glasses, a mask strap and a hook all crowd behind your ear, and the case is bigger.

The Beats Powerbeats Fit sits in the middle. For most runners, gym-goers and court-sport players it is secure enough, and it still looks normal enough to wear on the train and at your desk.

Smaller ears that cannot keep AirPods in

The most useful change in this generation is the new XS ear tip, for four sizes with S, M and L. The wingtip is also about 20% softer than on the Beats Fit Pro. People with smaller ears, including many women and teens, who found the old wingtip sore should have an easier time.

Run the fit test in the Beats app first. It checks whether each ear is sealed. A good seal improves noise cancelling and bass and keeps the earbuds steadier on a run.

Does it work on Android, and what do you lose?

Yes. You need Android 13 or later and the Beats app. One-touch pairing, custom controls, battery status, Locate My Beats, the fit test, noise cancelling and Transparency all work.

What you lose are Apple ecosystem features. Automatic switching between iPhone, iPad and Mac, hands-free Siri, Audio Sharing and Apple Find My. Households with an iPhone and a Mac, or a parent’s iPad you also want to connect, get the smoothest experience. Android-only users still get a fully working pair of earbuds.

Winter runs and the commute: when to use ANC and Transparency

On the treadmill, the subway or the bus, turn on noise cancelling to tune out machines and train noise so you can keep the volume lower. Running or biking along a road, switch to Transparency so you can hear cars and horns behind you. One press on the earbud switches modes.

Set expectations on noise cancelling. It still uses the older H1 chip from the Beats Fit Pro, and a review site rates the noise cancelling as usable but not top tier. If your main goal is sleeping on a plane, stronger noise-cancelling earbuds will suit you better.

Is the battery enough? Yes for a marathon, top up on a long flight

Per the manufacturer, you get up to 7 hours per charge with ANC off and up to 6 hours with ANC on, or up to 30 and 24 hours in total with the case. Four or five workouts a week plus a daily commute means charging the case about once a week.

A full marathon or a half-day hike is covered. On a 13-hour flight to Asia, put the earbuds back in the case for a bit midway; 5 minutes of charging gives about another hour.

Want heart rate or longer battery? Look at the Powerbeats Pro 2

The Beats Powerbeats Fit does not track heart rate. If you do not wear a watch and want heart rate zones on your runs, or want longer listening and wireless charging, consider the pricier Powerbeats Pro 2. It has heart rate sensors in the earbuds, the H2 chip, and up to 10 hours per charge and 45 hours with the case per the manufacturer. The tradeoff is the earhook and a bigger case.

If you already wear an Apple Watch or another sports watch, let the watch handle heart rate and enjoy the lighter Powerbeats Fit.

Gifting: who it suits

  • An active partner: someone who runs or lifts every day will use these daily. Jet Black is the safest of the four colors, and orange and pink are options too.
  • College students: one pair for class, the commute and the campus gym, with a case small enough for any backpack. See more ideas in our 2026 gift guide for college students.
  • Parents, think it through: if your parents want music on walks or during group dance workouts, show them how to put in the wingtips, and Android phones need the app. If they mostly listen to opera or the news, simpler earbuds may be the better gift.

FAQ

What is the difference between the Beats Powerbeats Fit and the Beats Fit Pro?

The Beats Powerbeats Fit is the next generation of the Beats Fit Pro, with the same basic shape and the same Apple H1 chip. Three things changed. The wingtip is about 20% more flexible, the case is 17% smaller, and there are now four ear tip sizes (XS, S, M, L) instead of three. Battery life, noise cancelling and Transparency mode are the same. If your Beats Fit Pro fits well, there is no need to upgrade.

Do the Beats Powerbeats Fit fall out when running?

The Beats Powerbeats Fit is held in by a soft wingtip that tucks into the ear and is designed for running and workouts, so most people can run and jump rope without it falling out. The key is the right ear tip. Use the fit test in the Beats app to choose among the XS, S, M and L sizes. If the wingtip does not hold in your ear shape, the earhook on the Powerbeats Pro 2 is more secure.

Do the Beats Powerbeats Fit work with Android phones?

Yes. With the Beats app on Android 13 or later, the Beats Powerbeats Fit supports one-touch pairing, custom controls, battery status, Locate My Beats and the fit test, and noise cancelling and Transparency work too. What you miss are Apple-only features such as automatic switching between Apple devices, hands-free Siri, Audio Sharing and Apple Find My.

Can the Beats Powerbeats Fit track heart rate?

No. The Beats Powerbeats Fit has no heart rate sensor. If you want heart rate from your earbuds, choose the Powerbeats Pro 2, which has a heart rate sensor in each earbud and works with fitness apps on iPhone.

Should I get the Beats Powerbeats Fit or the Powerbeats Pro 2?

Get the Beats Powerbeats Fit if you do not want an earhook, want a small case and plan to wear it as your everyday earbuds too. Get the more expensive Powerbeats Pro 2 if you want heart rate, longer listening (up to 10 hours per charge and 45 hours with the case, per the manufacturer), wireless charging, or if the wingtip does not stay in your ears.

Can I swim or shower with the Beats Powerbeats Fit?

No. The Beats Powerbeats Fit earbuds and case are rated IPX4, which handles sweat and light rain but not submersion, so take them out for swimming and showers. Beats also notes that water resistance can wear down over time, and you should not charge the earbuds while they are wet.

Can I use the Beats Powerbeats Fit in China?

Yes. The Beats Powerbeats Fit connects over Bluetooth to any phone and charges with USB-C, so as long as your power adapter is labeled 100–240V, it works on 220V outlets in China. Check on your own phone before the trip how Find My and the Beats app behave there.

Are the Beats Powerbeats Fit good for phone calls and video meetings?

Each Beats Powerbeats Fit earbud has dual beamforming microphones that focus on your voice and reduce background noise, which is fine for everyday calls, WeChat voice calls and online classes. In strong wind or a loud gym, the other person may still hear some background noise.
